Kestutis Vasiliunas
Professor Vasiliunas was born in Vilnius in 1964. Between the years 1982 and 1988 he studied at the former Vilnius Art Institute. Professor Vasiliunas works at the Graphic Department of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. He is the director of ‘Bokartas’, an independent curator of the International Artist's Book Exhibitions, a member of the ‘Europe 24’ group and the ‘Scandinavia-Baltic Group’. His main fields of professional interest are printmaking, artist's book, graphic design and installations.
Professor Vasiliunas has participated in many workshops and symposia: ‘International Art Workshop’, Jyvaskyla, Finland (1993), ‘International Graphic Workshop’, Angelholm, Sweden (1994), ‘International Graphic Workshop’, Kloster Bentlage, Germany (2005), ‘International Artist’s Book Creative Workshop’ of the programme ‘Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009’. Vilnius Academy of Art, Lithuania (2009), ‘International Graphic Workshop’, ‘Scuola Internazionale di Grafica’, Venezia, Italia (2010), ‘International Graphic Workshop’, ‘Guanlan Printmaking Base’, China (2010 – 2011), Symposium ‘Progetto ROS’, KAUS, Urbino, Italy (2012), ‘2nd Relief Printing Symposium’, Leipzig, Germany (2013) among many others. He has received several scholarships, e.g. Scholarship of the Branderburg Ministry of Culture – ‘Artist in Residence’, ‘Kunstlerhaus’, Wiepersdorf, Germany (1994), Scholarship of the Ministry of the Flemish Community – ‘Artist in Residence’, ‘Frans Masareel Centrum’, Kasterlee, Belgium (1999), Scholarship of Land Salzburg – ‘Artist in Residence’, ‘Kunst Atelier’, Salzburg, Austria (1999), Scholarship of Ministry of Culture of Lithuania (2001-2002 and 2007).

Professor Vasiliunas’ artworks were presented on more than 30 solo exhibitions in Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Estonia, France and Russia. He also participated in numerous collective exhibitions on a national and international scale, including such events as the 3rd International Print Triennial Prague (2001), ‘International Artist’s Book Fair’, Hamburg, Germany (2002), ‘International Printmaking Year Exhibition in Japan’, Nishio City, Japan, (2004), ‘Lithuanian Graphic Art’ (2005), Embassy of Lithuania, London, UK, the 4th Seoul International Book Arts Fair, Seoul, Korea (2007), the 23rd International Biennale of Graphic Design Brno 2008, the ‘International Artist's Book Triennial Vilnius’ (2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012), ‘Between the Sheets: 2012 Artists’ Book Exhibition’, ‘Gallery East’, Perth, Australia, ‘International Print Triennial - Krakow - Falun 2013’, Dalarnas Museum, Falun, Sweden, ‘Contemporary Print Art: between tradition and innovation’, Gallery ‘Philobiblon’, Rome, Italy, (2014).

Many of the works were awarded with honourable mentions and prizes: The Most Beautiful Book in Lithuania in 2002, 2006, 2012 and 2011, 2nd Prize – ‘10th European Biennial Competition for Graphic Art’, Brugge, Belgium (2005), Saito Prize – ‘Kyoto International Woodprint Exhibition’ Japan (2003), 1993 The Jury Honorable Mention – ‘Falu Biennalen’, Dalarnas Museum, Falun, Sweden, among many others.

Professor Vasiliunas’ artworks can be found in private collections, art galleries and museums all over the world.
